Transform
an ordinary
elementary school
playground into
a naturally interactive gardenscape and foster a healthy environment
to learn + play.
About
The “WHS Learn + Play Gardens” will instill a lifelong connection to our natural world, foster a passion for physical recreation, and create a personal awareness of the value of health and wellness. We aim to positively affect the lives of our students and neighboring community members who
visit our schoolyard both during the school year
and throughout the
summer months.
Project
The WHS Learn + Play Gardens is a vision of outdoor classrooms and recreational amenities that emphasize the importance of caring for our environment. It will feature:
• Sustainable and recycled
materials
• Edible, native and butterfly
gardens, native trees
• Public art
• Various play areas and loop
walking path
• Historic Lombard markers
and exhibits
In addition the program aims to resolve ongoing drainage issues in low-lying and flood-prone areas that negatively impact the use of the grounds and the neighborhood beyond.
We appreciate your support for this community project! Your donations will directly impact the quality of life we enjoy in Lombard.
